Here We Go....

Well here goes with a quick update....

The last couple of weeks of preparation seem to have flown by. We've researched, planned and finalised the route, got all the maps and materials we need and are ready to take the big silver bird to Norway tomorrow.

Flight leaves LHR at 07:20 which means an 03:00 departure from home. The tandem is all packed up and on the back of the car and the panniers are packed with all the necessary camping, cooking and personal gear (mainly Tracey's pants!) and ready to go. Might have to stop on the way to the airport to buy an extra donkey to carry all the stuff we seem to be taking! I can't face weighing the gear in case it's too disappointing but I think we're probably under 30kg excluding the tandem which is well within the airline weight limit. Not bad for a 3 month trip!

We'll be flying from Heathrow to Oslo then changing plane and onto Trondheim, change plane and on to Hammerfest, change plane and on to Honnigsvag which is 20 or so miles short of the North Cape. The four flights should see us arrive at around 22:00, the last couple being in little puddle jumpers (Dash 8's). Hopefully they'll be big enough to take the tandem and 300 pairs of knickers!

Our plan for Friday 20/06/08 is to get all the kit sorted and ready then take a leisurely ride to the Cape and back to Honnigsvag for the second night. We have digs booked for the first and second nights to ease ourselves in gently. Saturday? Go south young man as the adventure begins....

More to follow....
